Children’s Council Welcomes Yvette Renteria as Chief Strategy & Impact Officer
Children’s Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Yvette Renteria to the position of Chief Strategy & Impact Officer.
Yvette has dedicated nearly two decades to working with underserved communities. She joins Children’s Council from Oakland Unified School District where she served as the Deputy Chief of Innovation to ensure quality, sustainability and equity within the school system.
She began her education work as a teacher in Compton and three years later opened a middle school in Oakland as a principal.
After five years in Oakland schools, Yvette joined the nonprofit Year Up, and became a Senior Director for the Bay Area region, growing and scaling the organization while increasing the number of young adults earning gainful employment in under-represented industries.
Yvette grew up in rural central California and found passion and grit from her Mexican parents, who taught her that education can transform lives and can never be taken away. She believes that if you teach knowledge and skills, you can empower families and communities.
According to Yvette, “I’m excited and grateful to join Children’s Council because I find the vision and work both essential and personal. As a mother of four-year-old twins, I know how enabling it is for parents to have young children in school. And as a longtime public educator, I know very well the benefits of early childhood education. I’m honored to contribute to Children’s Council’s ongoing success.”
Yvette enjoys spending her extra time with her husband and kids. They find ways to explore, dance and laugh.
