Family Event: Parent Power Workshop 20210415
April 15, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeEmpower your children with Kidpower’s workshop.
Learn how to protect and empower young people with skills to help them be safe from bullying, abuse, and other harm – as well as to help them have safe, healthy relationships of all kinds.
Skills include:
- Be and act aware, calm, and confident, in person and also online because awareness can stop most problems before they start.
- Set clear, respectful boundaries – and respect others’ boundaries, too!
Because boundaries support healthy relationships – and also help prevent bullying & abuse. - Practice & use the Kidpower Boundary & Consent Rules so everyone knows the rules about touch and attention for play, fun, and affection – & about when they don’t have a choice.
- Use words safely – and protect ourselves from others’ words, in person and online to protect your feelings, throw away hurting words, and take in kindness.
- Identify adults who can help youth prevent, avoid, and solve safety problems because adult help is crucial for kids’ safety – and, kids who have had painful experiences with some adults are more vulnerable if they stop trying to get help from any adult.
- Be persistent & assertive to get help from busy, distracted, or grumpy adults because when they have physical or emotional safety problems, kids are safer getting help right away, even if they have to interrupt adults who might be inconvenienced or offended.
- Be safe in public and with strangers – including online because kids are more prepared to take charge of safety in public if they have already practiced what to do in different situations.
