Je Ton Carey
Director of Quality Childcare, Business Supports & Black ECE Achievement
Je Ton Carey brings 20+ years of on-the-ground early care and education, family engagement, and public policy administration experience to Children’s Council. Prior to her appointment to the position of Director of Quality Business Supports, she served as Director of Black Early Care & Education Achievement and Associate Director of Provider Services.
Je Ton started her career as a family child care provider and has a passion for the field. Guided by the Sudanese proverb, “A child is a child of everyone,” she believes in investing in early education to positively impact children, educators and the community.
Prior to her tenure at Children’s Council, Je Ton worked as a liaison, engaging stakeholders and policy makers in the coordination of care for the 0-5 population. She earned an M.A. in Early Childhood Education and has a foundational understanding of Early Care & Education competencies through the lens of equity, diversity and social justice.
