José A. Rodríguez named Chief Human Resources Officer at Children’s Council
Children’s Council is pleased to announce that José A. Rodríguez will serve as Chief Human Resources Officer for the 50-year-old organization.

José A. Rodríguez is a transformational, people-centric leader with a passion for mission-driven organizations. He is known for his ability to build relationships and has a track record of successfully leading strategic and operational initiatives across various industries and sectors. With a strong background in Human Resources, José has worked in non-profit, technology, retail, public relations, and healthcare.
His non-profit leadership roles have included Chief Development and Strategy Officer, Chief People Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and Head of HR. José also brings extensive HR Business Partner experience from organizations such as Hewlett-Packard (HP), The Gap and Logitech.
“I am thrilled to use my variety of for-profit and nonprofit professional experience to support an organization that is so vital to our local economy and community,” said Rodriguez.
José, as CHRO, crafts and drives our strategic human capital plan, ensuring alignment of compensation strategies, professional development, DEI initiatives, recruitment, and retention with organizational goals. He develops and implements HR policies, leads talent management and succession planning, cultivates a compelling employer brand, and fosters a positive culture, crucially shaping a thriving and forward-moving workforce.
In addition to his work, José serves on the Boards of the San Francisco Community Music Center, Mission Neighborhood Health Center, and the 3rd Street Youth Center and Clinic. He holds a Master’s Degree in Labor Relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing. In 2020, José completed a Professional Coaching for Life and Work certificate program at UC Davis, further enhancing his professional portfolio.
José loves spending time with family and friends in Puerto Rico, where he visits at least once a year. He is always looking for new vegan places to try in the Bay Area, preferably those that offer great wine, as a wine enthusiast who enjoys wine tasting trips to Sonoma.
