What inspired you to join the Associate Board at Children’s Council?

When I had my first child, I realized how hard it is to find affordable quality child care in this city. With some time in my hands and new motivation I looked to help in any way I can. The Council’s work inspired me, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the AB members brought genuine excitement. We were a team.

How does being a part of Children’s Council align with your professional goals?

My mission as an architect of affordable housing (which should be just housing) extends to my advocacy for affordable quality child care. We always think of and try to integrate child care spaces in our projects. I think there are collaborative opportunities there.

What do you believe is the most important offering an Associate Board member can make to Children’s Council?

Their time, and voice. This is an opportunity for both the Council and the AB members to form a lifelong relationship. The council deserves lifelong advocates, and the members strengthen their identity as advocates in their community.

What’s a favorite childhood memory of yours?

Jumping off a barrel, holding on to an umbrella, during a storm, hoping to be carried away by the wind. Didn’t work but it was fun.

What piece of music, book, or movie made an impact on you?

I enjoy the writings of Italo Calvino and Murakami. I love to dance on any type of music. And I love to watch movies, Let me In, District 49 and Waitress have been my favorites for a long time.

Bonus Question: What’s your favorite thing to do in the city?

The Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park is one of my favorite places in the city.
