Children’s Council Hosts International Group of Child Care Champions
Recently, Children’s Council of San Francisco hosted a site tour and information session with a group of international early education colleagues from the Region IX Office of Child Care, an office of the Administration of Children and Families.
Group members come from American Samoa, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Hawaii.

The group was in San Francisco for their annual Region IX meeting. They connected with Children’s Council to learn more about our work, as they are currently engaged in discussions to open child care resource and referral organizations similar to Children’s Council in their areas of the world.
They were also interested in learning more about how Children’s Council is actively building the pipeline of new early educators in San Francisco through our BizNest suite of programs and services for aspiring child care providers.
The group was engaged and inspired by our innovative Training of Trainers services, our “Whole Family/Whole Child” wrap-around services model for families and our online Lending Library.
After the site visit we received the following message from Mary Beth Phillips, PhD, Program Specialist, Region IX, who helped facilitate the visit:
“I was so proud of California Resource and Referral and so impressed with the focus, the energy, and the innovation so evident in the SF Children’s Council. You are wonderfully parent and provider focused, and your love for the children and families comes through everything, from your materials to your furniture selection in the meeting rooms.
Most of all, I want to thank you for preparing a thoughtfully organized presentation that hit all the questions the administrators sent. I know that they left with at least one idea they are going to implement back home and a larger vision of what could be in the future for their families and providers. Thank you so much!”
This amazing group of child care champions will continue to be connected to our team at Children’s Council as they model their future work based on what they learned from us. We are happy to support them on their journey and look forward to sharing our learnings, expertise and insight.
