FCC Collective Bargaining Process Begins
Recently, Governor Newsom signed a bill into law which allows family child care (FCC) providers the right to collectively bargain with the State of California for a labor contract. The law took effect on January 1, 2020.
FCC educators will be able to select a representative to negotiate on their behalf, in order for collective bargaining to take place.
FCC educators may already be receiving phone calls or visits from representatives about the benefits of unionizing and the election process. The representatives are not employees of, or affiliated with, Children’s Council of San Francisco.
Children’s Council encourages child care educators in our community to participate in this process and to address specific questions to the representatives who contact them.
