Kanade Shinkai

Kanade brings 20+ years of experience and passion as an educator and advocate for the improvement of educational programs. She has volunteered as a mentor to students from elementary school through undergraduate studies with a focus on introducing them to health sciences and STEM careers. As a leader in medical education, she has served on several boards and committees of national organizations, guiding strategic planning and program implementation. She currently teaches and sees patients as a medical dermatologist at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

She also brings her experience as a San Francisco-based foster parent to Children’s Council.

Kanade has a BA from Swarthmore College and doctorate degrees from the University of California, San Francisco.
