Laura Urban
Associate Director of Health & Nutrition
Laura brings over 10 years of experience strategizing food security solutions at the state and local level to Children’s Council. Laura started her career with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, working at the ground-level implementing federal child nutrition programs, family-centered nutrition education programs, and healthy pantry initiatives to enhance the pantry environment.
Most recently, Laura oversaw the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services Office of Food Security, designing and evaluating state food insecurity and child wellness/chronic disease prevention state plans and initiatives, and acting as the state liaison among cross-sector food insecurity partners statewide.
Laura believes food is a human right and is passionate about ensuring that children and their families have access to the heathy food they need to thrive. She is excited to join Children’s Council and local partners to serve the children and families of San Francisco.
Originally from Southeastern Wisconsin, Laura is enjoying the moderate San Francisco weather. She currently lives in the city with her husband and her (very cute) Corgi. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the city, cooking, and thrifting.
