Vote Yes on Prop C
The science is clear: the most critical time in brain development is from birth to age three. By the time a child turns five, 90% of their brain is developed. Quality early education gives very young brains the attention, stimulation and care they need to blossom.
San Francisco currently has more than 2,400 children on a waitlist for subsidized child care. More than 1,600 of these children are under the age of 3. This is a challenge San Francisco can solve!
On June 5, San Francisco voters will have the opportunity to pass Prop C, which would increase the commercial rents tax to generate over $100 million annually to help families struggling to pay for child care.
Child care is often the biggest expense for a family – even bigger than housing. When families get child care assistance, they can afford more for housing.
When we invest in child care, we all win. Children’s brains grow with the guidance of professional early educators who earn a living wage. Parents enjoy peace of mind at work knowing their children are getting the care and nurturance they need. And families of diverse means are able to live and thrive in San Francisco.
The Children’s Council of San Francisco urges you to vote yes on Prop C.

San Francisco has a well-thought-out plan and clear priorities for how to use funds generated by Prop C. The city already has an effective child care system that is severely underfunded. Children’s Council urges you to support Prop C.
